                     Celebrating 35 years “Living our history” 

      The Heritage Foundation of East Grand Forks area Inc. began holding ‘Heritage Days’ 35 years ago this year. We will celebrate this event on Saturday August 21, and Sunday August 22, 2010.  Heritage Village is located on Highway 220 across for the Tech College.
     Each year we have many of the familiar activities which help remind us of our heritage and community traditions.  These include antique tractors and machinery, the General store with penny candy, sarsaparilla and artifacts, Joe’s Buffalo Burger stand, Ice Cream parlor, steam engine threshing, log sawing, broom making, blacksmith shop, school house, Sherlock house, Nisbet log cabin , Log barn and granary, Granville church with concession in basement,  Fram boat display, cook car, Memorial garden, antique tractor pull, children’s games & relays, Pedal tractor pull, straw pile money scramble, and  roving musicians.
     There will be demonstrations and displays by the Busy Beaver woodcarvers, printing press, carding & spinning by Joann Lavigne from Fiber Arts Guild, rosemaling by Sons of Norway,  pottery by Muddy River, quilts by North Star Quilters Guild, Northern lights Model Railroad Museum, “Billies” Natural Soap stand, and Willing Workers 4-H activities.
    
New to the grounds this year is the display of Sons of Norway Viking model ship, Pines & Prairie Audubon Bird trailer, Family activities in the new Dakota science Center, Pizza Garden, horseshoe games and bingo.

                                     Down Town Horns

Based out of Grand Forks, The Downtown Horns is a classic rock-and-roll horn band performing the greatest, most recognizable and danceable hit songs from the 1960's through today spanning many different musical styles and genres, including: classic and "oldies" rock, the best of today's pop, Motown, blues, rhythm and blues, soul, funk, swing, even a few polkas and waltzes…something for everyone!

Ole Oleson Norwegian storyteller 3:00-4:00 pm  A third generation  American of Norwegian decent. Roger Hellesvig aka "Ole Oleson" is a reenactor/educator of the 19th century.  He will be on the bandstand on Saturday from 3:00-4:00.His program will reenact a 19th century Norwegian immigrant, using a trunk as a focal point. another program for the children will be in the Heritage school house  on Saturday at 2:00 and 4:00 where they will have a hands on experience as they participate in activities of cyphering, recitation, spell downs etc.
